  1. REPLACE! V.99 Preliminary text file...

  3. The usual text files (disclaimer, sound origins, puns) will accompany
  4. Version 1.0.  This is V.99, something we decided to share with you
  5. until we polish it up, and write them thar text files.
  6.  
  7. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
  8. My friends and I decided to change the sounds for DOOM 1.1 REGISTERED to
  9. make DEATHMATCH a little more interesting.  I hope you hurt your sides
  10. laughing as hard as we did while making the sound files.
  11.  
  12. DIRECTIONS
  13. There are a couple a ways of doing this, but here's what I suggest:
  14.  a. Copy DOOM.WAD (yep, that TEN Megabyte file) into a temporary directory.
  15.  b. Unzip these files into that temporary directory.
  16.  c. Run REPLACE!.BAT
  17.  d. Rename DOOM.WAD in your DOOM directory to SUMTHIN.ELSE.
  18.  e. Copy/Move the DOOM.WAD in the temporary directory to your DOOM dir.
  19.  f. Delete everything in the temporary directory.
  20.  g. Play Doom as abnormal, enjoy.
  21.  h. If you don't like the new sounds (YEAH, RIGHT!) copy SUMTHIN.ELSE to
  22.     DOOM.WAD then delete SUMTHIN.ELSE.
